Dubare Elephant Camp is an elephant training facility located on the banks of the Cauvery River in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, 15 km from Kushalnagar and 29 km from Madikeri. It is one of the most well-known locations to see in Coorg and a top attraction you should include in your Coorg travel plans.

The Cauvery River created the natural island of Dubare. It is a crucial home base for the elephants of the Karnataka Forest Department and one of the must-visit locations in India wildlife vacation packages.

A joint venture between the forest department and jungle lodges & resorts is Dubare Elephant Camp. Numerous elephants in this camp are trained by naturalists. At this camp, the elephants trained for the Mysore Dussehra are trained. The trainers go over the numerous facets of the biology, ecology, and history of elephants. Visitors can also take part in a variety of elephant-related activities, such as feeding the elephants ragi, jaggery, sugarcane, bananas, and coconuts. Visitors can also see elephants being scrubbed in the river and observe how oil is applied to their tusks, forehead, and other parts of their body.

Attractions at Dubare include elephant interactions including feeding, bathing, and rides. Coracle rides, bird watching, walking, and river rafting are other attractions. The Cauvery River camp is surrounded by forest, and the forest department organizes treks through it. Visitors can also choose to take a coracle boat trip on the River Cauvery at this location. While taking coracle rides, remember to keep an eye out for crocodiles lazing on the riverbanks. With previous authorization from the wildlife society, fishing is permitted.

A popular activity in Coorg is river rafting, which can be found near Dubare. There are many rafting routes, with trips lasting anything from one hour to three. Usually, one-hour rafting excursions are best for beginners, while longer sessions are best for more seasoned rafters. Rafting is typically not permitted for children under the age of 14. In peak season, the cost of a one-hour rafting session may increase to about INR 1200. The greatest time to go rafting in Dubare is from October to December. Rafting is typically prohibited throughout the summer due to the Kaveri river's reduced water flow.

Many animals and birds in the wild can be found in the forests of Dubare. Wild Asiatic elephants are frequently sighted, and there is also a chance to see sambar, spotted deer, tigers, leopards, wild dogs, and gaur. In these areas, bears can also be sighted. There are numerous non-venomous snakes and reptiles that live in the forest. The woodland is also home to kingfishers, peacocks, woodpeckers, and peacocks.

The months of October through March are the ideal times to visit Dubare Elephant Camp. The island may not be reachable during heavy rains, and events would be postponed. The two major attractions nearby are Nisargadhama and Veerabhoomi in addition to Dubare. The camp's cottages are maintained by Jungle Lodges & Resorts, which also arranges Jeep safaris for camp guests. The greatest time to go rafting in Dubare is from October to December.

It is well connected by road to many areas of Coorg, including Kushalnagar, Virajpet, and Gonikoppal, and is only 19 kilometers from Madikeri town. It is located halfway between Siddapura and Kushalnagar. Visitors must travel across the Kaveri River by boat or on foot from the parking area to the main area where the activities are offered.
