Abbey Falls

Abbey Falls, also known as Abbi Falls, is a beautiful waterfall found in Coorg at a distance of 8 kilometers from Madikeri Bus Station. It is among the must-see locations in Coorg tour packages and one of the best waterfalls close to Bangalore.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Coorg is Abbey Falls. It is positioned in the midst of exclusive spice and coffee estates. One of the best waterfalls in the Coorg region may be found there.

The Abbey Waterfalls are the result of numerous little streams coming together with a lot of rainfall. It drops into a pool from a height of around 70 feet as it tumbles down the rocky slopes. This waterfall empties into the Cauvery River. Here, a hanging bridge has been constructed to cross the gorge, providing visitors with a stunning vantage point from which to observe the falls. During the rainy season, the main road can be used to hear the sound of the waterfalls. On the other side of the bridge, there is a Kali Mata shrine that should not be missed.

Known as Abbey Waterfalls in Britain The Jessy waterfalls were named in honour of Jessy, the first British Captain Chaplain of Madikeri. After India gained its independence, the government of India took possession of the waterfalls, and Mr. Neravanda B. Nanaiah purchased the land from the government. He subsequently converted the area from a natural forest to farmed farmland with plantations of coffee and various spices. Since that time, the area has been privately owned and features stunning scenery.

The monsoon season, when the waterfall is at its peak, is the greatest time to visit. When visiting the waterfall in the monsoon, visitors must be cautious due to the slick roads and leeches. The time after the monsoon is also good for visiting the falls.

About 8 kilometers separate Abbey Falls from Madikeri. From the falls' entrance, where cars can park, it takes 10 minutes to walk through coffee plantations to the waterfalls. The waterfalls' access path is lined with lush flora and provides a beautiful experience.
